Sick Kids!

Today has been the longest day ever.  I have been up since 3:30 this morning.  Ally woke me up when she vomited.  She has been throwing up all day.  The worst part was when I thought she was alright and left the house.  I needed to stop at the post office and Wal-Mart.  That was a bad idea.  She started crying at the post office that she was hurting.  Then she threw up a massive amount!  It was awful.  I didn't bring the diaper bag in, so I had nothing with me.  We were probably the 10th people in line.  Everyone was nice.  We left.  One man did offer to mail my letter for me, but I declined since I hadn't paid for it yet. One man gave me a couple napkins so I could wipe her face off.  She feels fine, but everything she eats comes right back out!
Thaddeus is sick to but he has diarrhea.  He is so cranky and miserable.  He has hardly slept at all today.  He will be seven months tomorrow.  The worst part is every time he goes it is so watery it seeps out everywhere, and I have to change him.
I hope they feel better tomorrow we are supposed to go to my moms and watch the Super Bowl.  The older kids aren't sick, and I know my mom is looking foreword to it.  She has ALS and doesn't get to leave much or have many visitors other than me and my sisters.  I hate it because many of my moms friends ask me on facebook how she is and if there is anything they can do.  If your really a friend don't talk to me go visit her!  That's my rant for the day!
Well wish me luck! Hopefully we all get some sleep tonight and get to watch the niners win it tomorrow with all the family!

Poor Evie!

Poor Evie has been sick with a tummy bug since Sunday.  Today she is just sick of being sick! Her fever is gone but her stomach still hurts.  She hasn't vomited since early afternoon so hopefully she's on the mend.  She got her appetite back this evening, but I didn't want her to eat to much to fast.  She wanted chicken nuggets so bad.  I caved and let her have some.  She ate the first one fine but gagged on the second.  Then her tummy ached a little so I said no more.  She was bummed, but I think she was afraid she would vomit again to.  The doctor said its Gastroenteritis.  Apparently that is going around.  I'm just praying it doesn't go around my house!  One thing kids seem to be really good at sharing is their germs!

swine flu

Why, the year I want to start sending my daughter to preschool, does the threat of Swine flu have to be looming over head? I don't know much about it, but the more I hear the more I worry. My husband thinks we should wait to send her to school. I disagree, but am not really that well informed. I have 2 kids who for some reason don't watch the news!

I have heard that people can die from it, and that scares me two. So I don't really know what to do. For now the plan is to send her to school, and teach her to wash her hands really GOOD! I think that is all we can do. If it does become a big problem we can keep her home, but I feel the benefits of school outweigh the concerns. Again I am not to well informed on the subject.

I tried to do research and didn't come up with much. What I did find made me think swine flu isn't a big concern. However, when I talk to others I get the impression worse than I think. I just don't know! I do think that we will always have various things to worry about in life and just have to go with the flow! We do the best we can with what we have.

If anyone has any more information or knows a reliable site to get info I am all ears. I looked at the CDC website and got the impression that this is no big deal. Which worries me more! What the heck is the deal???

Sick kids

I thought Christopher was getting better, but then a horrible cough started. He sounds like an old man. It is really bad. So bad that yesterday he threw up twice. Then last night Evie woke up with a fever and feeling horrible. In fact she felt so bad last night that she cried, "I need go my doctor!" I told her the doctor's office was closed we could go to see grandpa, who thankfully is a doctor. She refused and said, "No I need my doctor!" I told her again his office was closed we would have to go to the hospital. So she said, "I need go hospital!"

I had already given her ibuprofen and once it kicked in she was fine. However, the fever didn't go away I had to alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours all night long. She slept next to me and sure enough every 3 hours I woke up because she was so hot!

She woke up in the morning with a sore throat. She didn't complain, but she didn't sound like her normal self. I gave her medicine, and she insisted she was all better. Probably, because she knew that today was her school orientation day. I did take her not realizing how sick she actually was. It was only an hour, but at the end she sat on my lap and said, "I want go home and sleep!" I knew then she was really sick. We went home and laid down she was out in minutes, and so was Christopher.

Daddy had already called the doctor and made appointments for today. So when they woke up we got ready and went to the doctor. I didn't think it was that bad. Christopher's cough concerned me, but so many people are sick right now I figured he picked up a virus. Daddy was worried because of swine flu. Thankfully it wasn't swine flu.

Evie has strep throat and has to take antibiotics for 10 days. Christopher and I may get it since we were all sharing drinks, even at the doctor's office! I thought we all had the same thing. Christopher has brochiolitis. The doctor said there is wheezing in his lungs. He is apparently more susceptible to it since he had RSV. He has to have 2 different types of nebulizer treatments, one every 6 hours and one twice a day! The first time we had to hold him down, but the second was easier. So I hope it goes better tomorrow. I don't know if I am supposed to continue them when he sleeps or not. I should have asked that at the doctor's office. I will have to call tomorrow and see. For now if he is sleeping I will let him sleep.

I have a sore throat and feel crummy today. If it doesn't go away my doctor gave me an order to get a strep test and see. I plan on waiting because I am to tired to go to the hospital for the test. Plus, I don't think I feel that bad. Just an achy tired body, and scratchy throat. So we shall see.

Sick little guy

Christopher is sick. Poor guy has had a fever for 2 days. I'm keeping it down with ibuprofen and tylenol. He's just not happy and doesn't have much of an appetite. He ate a big lunch which made me happy and has been sleeping for 2 1/2 hours. I am hoping the sleep is just what the doctor ordered! He doesn't really have any other symptoms so I don't know whats wrong.

I do know that he only wants momma! I made the mistake of going in to work for my mom today to help get their office caught up on some paper work. They are closed on the weekends.I wasn't gone an hour when daddy called and said "Topher needs you bad momma!" Apparently he had been standing at the door since he realized I left crying! Tears snot and all! As if I didn't feel bad enough leaving! I said I'd finish up and come home. I recieved another call "I don't wanna make you feel bad, but he really needs you. Nothing I've tried is working!" said daddy! "I'm going as fast as I can" I replied!

All in all I was gone an hour and probably 20 minutes. When I got to the door sure enough Topher was standing there crying. His binkie in his mouth, and softie in hand. With in seconds he was sitting on my lap quiet as can be. Then with in a few minutes he was playing as if nothing had happened, as long as I was with in sight! I know he's sick, but I think I got played a little. Otherwise I have some great healing powers. I guess as moms we should never underestimate the power of a hug and kiss!

Sick, Again!

I knew something wasn't right. So since daddy works nights anyways I had Christopher sleep in my bed last night. Sure enough around 1:30 he threw up all over. Then again around 10:30, and again after 8, this time it was all over me! He also has had a fever all day and diarrhea off and on. He has been so miserable all day. He slept most of the day. The rest he followed me around crying.

However, now that it is bed time he is up playing and smiling. I know he is still not well so it won't be long until he is crying and ready for bed.

The worst part is we all just got over being sick. Everybody just finished antibiotics a few days ago. We all had runny noses, coughs, etc.. I hope this one is short lived. The worst part is he will probably want to sleep in my bed from now on!

The Vomit bug!

Saturday Evie attempting to take a nap when she threw up. She had complained earlier that her belly hurt and before she dosed off she told me her mouth hurt. After wards she was fine and basically her normal self. To be safe I didn't give her milk for 8 hours and slowly allowed her to have food. She was her normal self, so by dinner time I let her eat regular foods. Then later she said her belly hurt again, and then her mouth. Then the vomit hit. She threw up every where.

I had just run down to the laundry room. I forgot clothes in the dryer. I heard Evie coming down the hall. Then I heard a little cough and vomiting noises. I ran with my arms full of towels to the apartment and threw them all down on the couch. Then I went into the hallway to help her. By the time I got to her she had thrown up huge piles on each of our 3 neighbors doormats, and one large pile in the middle of the hall. She was walking towards me then back to the apartment when I passed by. I felt so bad. I didn't give her any milk until the next night. But she woke up the next day basically fine.

Christopher was the next to get the bug. The following night (Sunday night) it hit. He threw up four times in a little over an hour. He hasn't thrown up since this morning, but he now has diarrhea. My main concern is dehydration. He has had only 1 1/2 bottles today, and about 6 oz of pedialyte. Which is way less than what he usually has. He also has only been awake for around 5 hours today. When he is awake he is his normal playful self for a while, but gets tired faster than normal. He just doesn't have the energy.

I hope the bug passes as quickly as it hit. I can't stand seeing the kids suffer. Plus, I always get very scared when Christopher gets sick. After spending time in Pediatric ICU when he was 2 months old, I have become very paranoid and maybe a little over protective.

I'm Back!

I am sorry for the huge lapse in my posts. I have been having the worst time. It is as if the world is against me. Our computer got a virus and basically quit working. As if that wasn't bad enough nothing seems to work right for me lately. For example the other day I was making lunch, and I dropped the open can of Beefaroni, not our normal lunch but I was feeling very tired. It went everywhere, and of coarse my now super fast crawling son made it to a meat ball before I could stop him and choked on it. Lucky for me he coughed it right out.

Neither of my kids have been sleeping well. Christopher is getting 4 teeth at once and has a nasty cough, so he is miserable. Evie has a runny nose and a cough as well. No fevers, but sick enough to be miserable. So both of them a extremely whinny and cranky.

All I can say is that the past few weeks have been pushing me to my limits. All I want is for something to work out right, or maybe some good news, or just some time to myself (that isn't also my sleeping time. I just need a break, and I feel awful saying that. Mommy just desperately needs a time out.
